Andy Murray

Preview:
This is a match for the 2nd round of the Montreal 1000 Masters, a Canadian hard pitch tournament. One of the major candidates to win the title, Andy Murray, faces Tommy Robredo.

Analysis of T. Robredo

Spanish tennis player Tommy Robredo prefers clay. This 33 year old veteran is 22nd in the ATP ranking and clearly isn’t the favourite in this match.

Tommy has some great moments in his career and won dozens of titles, but these days he isn’t as intense. He is usually aggressive and consistent from the bottom of the court, but he isn’t as regular as he used to be.

This year, Robredo has had a few physical problems, so he hasn’t played as many tournaments as he used to. His best result was the title at Bastad. But in this tournament he is unlikely to go that far.

Analysis of A. Murray

Andy Murray is a Scottish player of world class who prefers fast pitches and grass. In this tournament he is one of the favourites to win the title. The 28 year old British player wishes to put last week’s bad result behind, since he was eliminated in the first round.

Murray is strong in everything: technically, physically, tactically and mentally. Sometimes he isn’t very regular, but that’s normal. In this tournament he wishes to be consistent again and tire Robredo, to take advantage of his fatigue, since the Scottish has more than enough quality to do that.

This season Murray has had excellent results in Majors, since he has won a few titles and reached far in other. He is a very complete tennis player who has enough arguments to fight for yet another title.

Betting suggestion:

Murray didn’t play well last week, but he is totally concentrated on 1000 Masters tournaments and Grand Slams, so in the previous tournament he didn’t play at his best level. At Montreal he will be fully concentrated and should move on without much effort, since he is likely to face top players in the next rounds. Robredo isn’t very strong in hard pitches, so Murray is likely to win in 2 sets.
