Dustin Brown

Preview:
This is a match for the Newport ATP 250, an American grass tournament. In this match the host Sam Querrey faces Dustin Brown.q

Analysis of S. Querrey

Sam Querrey, 27 years old, 36th of the ranking, is one of the best American tennis players. He prefers fast pitches, so he is one of the best candidates to win this title.

Querrey is an average Big server. His service is his biggest weapon, apart from a heavy forehand. He doesn’t move around the court all that well, but he is stronger than Isner and Karlovic, for example. He is mentally strong and usually recovers from break points because he never loses focus. His only problem is his physical ability.

He hasn’t won any titles so far this season, so he now has his first good chance to do so. His best results have been a semi-final at Memphis and two finals, at Houston and Nottingham.

Analysis of D. Brown

German Dustin Brown also prefers fast pitches, so he usually has excellent results on grass. Brown is a 30 year old player, 80th in the ranking.

Brown is an unpredictable player that can play as a champion in one minute and as an amateur in the next. His service is good, so he gets many aces and uses good tactical second services to play near the net, sometimes in a desperate way. He is aggressive all the time and likes to use strong strokes from the bottom of the court or diagonals to get closer to the net, apart from occasional drop shots.

His best results have been on grass. At Wimbledon he won against Nadal for the second time in 2 matches. In this one he played brilliantly and made very few mistakes, so he won in 4 sets. If he were to play like that in this match the American would be in trouble.

Betting suggestion:

Querrey bases his strategy on his good service. Brown also has a good service but has other good weapons too. But Dustin hasn´t returned services all that well in the previous round, when he faced a much weaker opponent. Therefore, he will have a hard time returning Querrey’s powerful service. Therefore, we expect at least one break point in this match.
