Thomaz Bellucci

This is a match for the second round of the Nottingham ATP 250, a pre-Wimbledon tournament played in grass. This is a faceoff between the German Zverev and the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci.

Analysis of A. Zverev

Alexander Zverev is an 18 year old German who likes all kinds of pitches. He has evolved a lot and climbed many positions in the ATP ranking. He is currently in the 81st position. He is the favourite to win, since he has already played 2 grass tournaments in the past 2 weeks.

Zverev moves very well and has got a powerful stroke. He will probably reach the TOP 40 soon, maybe next week. His service is strong, as are his left and right strokes. He is also very regular from the bottom of the pitch. In this tournament he has good chances of getting a good result.

This year the German hasn’t had a great result yet in the professional circuit. He reached the semi-final in a French challenger and won the Heibronn Challenger, in which he played at home.

Analysis of Thomaz Bellucci

The Brazilian Bellucci is in the 40th position of the ATP ranking. He is a 27 year old, 1.88m tall, tennis player with a style which is more favourable to clay. Thomaz hasn’t played any grass tournaments so far this year and hasn’t played in a few weeks, so he is likely to be out of rhythm.

Thomaz is a skilled tennis player with a good service stroke. He hits good, usually with a lot of spin, and moves about the pitch brilliantly. But his main is his emotional balance. When he gets in a paranoia mode, it usually takes him a lot of time to bounce back, and sometimes when he does it’s already too late.

Bellucci has had a regular season, with good and bad results. His best were a semi-final at Quito and the title in the Genève ATP 250, a few weeks ago. We don’t expect him to play brilliantly in grass, but if he is motivated and with a good service he has good chances of getting the win.

Betting suggestion:

Alexander Zverev has evolved quite well and has already played two grass tournaments this season, in Stuttgart and Halle. In the first he lost against the finalist Troicki, in 3 sets. In the second he lost against Karlovic, also in 3 sets. Bellucci hasn’t played any grass tournaments so far this season. Historically he hasn’t had good results in grass. Zverev is no expert in grass, but seems to be at a higher pace. Therefore, the most likely scenario is that the German will win.
