Preview:

Analysis of Chile

Chile is the host of this event and has used the home advantage well so far, with excellent exhibitions. The players seem highly motivated by their supporters and show great will to win this competition for the first time.

The 5-0 win over Bolivia and the following wins over Uruguay and Peru have proved the quality of the team, which has presented a high quality football, with a lot of speed and ability. Their defence is strong, due to the quality of players of the like of Claudio Bravo, Mauricio Isla and Garry Medel. On the other hand, forwards like Sánchez and Vargas make them very dangerous in offense, supported by a great midfield, with skilful players like Vidal and Valdivia.

Despite all this quality, Chile faces a strong opponent. Argentina, as usual, has got a very strong team, filled with players that are the best of the greatest European teams. Therefore, Chile’s only advantage is the help of their supporters.

Probable Line-up: Claudio Bravo, Mauricio Isla, Garry Medel, Francisco Silva and Gonzalo Jara; Charles Aránguiz, Marcelo Díaz, Arturo Vidal and Jorge Valdivia; Alexis Sánchez and Eduardo Vargas

Coach: Jorge Sampaoli

Confirmed Lineup: C. Bravo, G. Medel, M. Isla, F. Silva, J. Beausejour, A. Vidal, C. Aránguiz, M. Díaz, J. Valdivia, E. Vargas, A. Sánchez.
Coach: J. Sampaoli.

Analysis of Argentina

Despite the usual quality of Argentina, the last time they won this competition was 22 years ago. The current generation of players is one of the best ever, so they have more than enough quality to win the tournament. Moreover, they should be very eager to do so, after having lost the last World Cup Final against Germany.

Their last match was almost perfect: a 6-1 win over Paraguay. The greatest reference is, as usual, Messi, but they have other players of great quality, like Sergio Aguero, Di Maria and Javier Pastore, apart from reserve players like Carlos Tevez and Higuain.

Without a doubt Argentina is superior to the opponent and should create chances to score, despite Chile’s home advantage, since their individual player quality is far superior.

Probable Line-up: Sergio Romero, Pablo Zabaleta, Ezequiel Garay, Nicolás Otamendi and Marcos Rojo; Ever Banega, Javier Mascherano and Javier Pastore; Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero and Di María

Coach: Gerardo Martino

Confirmed Lineup: S. Romero, M. Demichelis, P. Zabaleta, N. Otamendi, M. Rojo, J. Mascherano, L. Biglia, Á. di María, J. Pastore, S. Agüero, L. Messi.
Coach: G. Martino.

Betting suggestion:

Both national teams have had great exhibitions, but Argentina is the favourite to win, since they have better player quality and a richer historical record. Moreover, the Argentinean coach has more quality alternatives in the bench and should be able to react to the matches needs more easily.
