Malmö and Zalgiris face at the Swedbank Park, Vasteras, in a 1st leg match for the 2nd pre-round of the Champions League. Swedish champions face the Lithuanian champions.

Analysis of Malmö FF

Malmö is a great with great tradition in Sweden: 21 championships, 14 cups and 2 Supercups. They are also the only Swedish team to have reached a final of this competition, in 1978-1979.
In the last season, Malmö had great results in the pre-rounds of the Champions League and reached group stage, but didn’t do so well, since they only won once and ended this stage with only 3 points.
In the national championship they were first with a 6 points advantage. Malmö was both best offense and best defence of the league, with averages of almost 2 goals scored and 1 goal conceded per match. They have also done well in away matches. This season they aren’t as strong and are currently in the 6th position, but they have only lost 1 match in the 6 they played so far.

Confirmed Lineup: A. Tinnerholm, F. Brorsson, Y. Yotún, R. Bengtsson, S. Kroon, O. Lewicki, M. Eikrem, M. Rosenberg, J. Berget, P. Cibicki.
Coach: Z. Azinovic, A. Kuhn.

Analysis of Žalgiris

In the Lithuanian league, the A Lyga, played since 1990, Zalgiris is the most consistent team, with 5 titles and 9 2nd places. Moreover, they have won 9 Lithuanian Cups, apart from having won the last 4 championships.
In 2014 they were far superior to the opposition and ended the league with only 2 losses and an advantage of 18 points. Their attack did well and scored an average of 2,55 goals per match, while they have conceded only 0,47 goals per match. This season they are once more dominating the national competition, particularly in away matches, having won 25 of 33 possible away points.
In the European competitions Zalgiris has never reached a group stage, but their performance has improved in the last seasons. To try to get further, they need to get a good result in this match, to try to qualify in the 2nd leg home match.

Confirmed Lineup: A. Vitkauskas, S. Kerla, E. Vaitkūnas, A. Švrljuga, J. Kendysh, V. Lukša, D. Šemberas, L. Pilibaitis, M. Kuklys, Jorge Chula, D. Šernas.
Coach: V. Dambrauskas.

Betting suggestion:

Malmö has got a far superior team, apart from the home advantage, so they are likely to win, so we believe the Asian handicap 1.5 in favour of the home team is of good value.
