Preview:
Celtic and Stjarnan face at the Celtic Park, Glasgow, in a 1st leg match for the 2nd pre-round of the Champions League. This is a match between the Scottish Champions and the Iceland Champions.

Analysis of Celtic

Celtic is one of the strongest teams in Scotland. They have won 97 national titles, including championships, and cups. They have been very strong in the last few years and have won 4 consecutive national championships.

In a league in which they were clearly the favourites, they confirmed their superiority and won the title with a 17 point advantage. They were the best offense of the event, with an average of 2,21 goals scored per match, and the best defence, with an average of 0,44 goals suffered per match.

Celtic wishes to make good use of this motivation to do well in the Champions League. But last season they were eliminated before the group stage, so they want to do better this time and reach group stage.

Confirmed Lineup: C. Gordon, M. Lustig, E. Izaguirre, D. Boyata, C. Mulgrew, S. Brown, S. Armstrong, S. Johansen, N. Bitton, J. Forrest, N. Çiftçi.
Coach: B. Rodgers.

Analysis of Stjarnan

Stjarnan is a team without much tradition in Iceland, but in the last seasons they have done well. In 2013 they qualified for the Europa League and reached far, but were eliminated by Internazionale just before group stage.

In 2014, Stjarnan won the title with an excellent sequence of results in the last rounds and ended the league with a short one point advantage. They haven’t lost any matches in the championship, which was key to winning the title.

This season, they are doing well once more, but have lost momentum in the last rouds, so they wish to get a result in this European competition.

Confirmed Lineup: G. Nielsen, D. Laxdal, B. Guðjónsson, H. Árnason, M. Præst, H. Ægisson, H. Björnsson, A. Jóhannsson, O. Finsen, A. Björgvinsson, J. Hansen.
Coach: R. Sigmundsson.

Betting suggestion:

Celtic has got a much superior team, apart from the home advantage; therefore, the most likely scenario is that the home team will win easily. They usually start strong, so the Asian handicap -0,5 in favour of the home team in the 1st half is of good value.
