Philadelphia vs Columbus

This Wednesday, Philadelphia Union faces Columbus Crew at the PPL Park, in Chester, Pennsylvania, in a match for the Major League Soccer 2015.

Analysis of Philadelphia Union

After almost reaching the playoffs last season, but not getting the necessary points in the last rounds, Philadelphia Union has had a terrible start in this edition of the league. Their defence is clearly the worst of the competition, with an average of 1,64 goals conceded per match. However, they seem to have improved in the last rounds, moreover, in home matches they usually don’t concede that many goals. Before losing against D.C. United in the last round, they didn’t concede any goals in the previous 2, so they need to do the same more often.
In the last 4 matches against Columbus Crew for the MLS, Union lost every time, including the first match of this season, which ended 4-1. But this loss was in a moment in which the team was in a negative sequence of results, so they should do better this time.

Confirmed Lineup: B. Sylvestre, S. Williams, Fabinho, R. Marquez, M. Edu, C. Maidana, B. Carroll, V. Nogueira, S. Le Toux, A. Wenger, F. Aristeguieta.
Coach: J. Curtin.

Analysis of Columbus Crew

Columbus Crew has had a good season start and is now 4th in the East Conference, with 16 points. But most of their points have been conquered in home matches, since in away matches they have only won 3 points in 6 rounds and didn’t score goals in 4 of those matches. Although they have the 3rd best offense of the competition, they haven’t been able to score goals in away matches.
In their last away match, against Orlando City, they scored the first goal but then committed a penalty and got a player expelled. Despite this disadvantage, they created a few goal opportunities and got the lead back with a goal by Kamara. However, once again they couldn’t hold on to the lead and conceded the equalizer in the last minutes.
In the beginning of the season, Columbus Crew got a sequence of only 1 loss in 6 matches, but in the last 5 they have only won 1. Therefore, they need to win to get back to a playoff access position.

Confirmed Lineup: S. Clark, E. Pogatetz, S. Campbell, W. Francis, C. Barson, M. Saeid, Justin Meram, E. Finlay, F. Higuaín, K. George, A. Schoenfeld.
Coach: G. Berhalter.

Betting suggestion:

We expect a balanced match between two offensive teams with weak defences. Since their offences have been somewhat productive, we believe that the most likely scenario is that both teams will score at least a goal.
