Preview:

Analysis of Vasco da Gama

Vasco hasn’t been able to leave the relegation zone and are having a disappointing season so far. They have had a few problems, so they need to recover soon to escape this uncomfortable zone.

It’s important to notice that after the arrival of the new coach, Celso Roth, the team has won 2 matches, against Flamengo and Avaí, but after that they lost 1-0 in an away match against Chapecoense, in a match in which they have shown little creativity.

They now return to their stadium but face a strong opponent. Moreover, Vasco still has a very uncreative midfield and an unproductive offense.

Probable Line-up: Charles, Madson, Aislan, Anderson Salles and Christiano; Guiñazu, Serginho, Júnio César and Emanuel Biancucchi; Riascos and Gilberto

Confirmed Lineup: Charles, Anderson Salles, Rodrigo, Mádson, Júlio César, P. Guiñazú, Andrezinho, Lucas, Serginho, Gilberto, D. Riascos.
Coach: Jorginho.

Analysis of São Paulo

São Paulo hasn’t been able to get a good sequence of results in the league, although they have had a few good exhibitions. Their problems are clear, since they haven’t won any of the last 4 matches, including a 4-0 loss against Palmeiras.

In away matches, they have only gotten 1 win, over Chapecoense, a tie, against Internacional, and 3 losses, against Atlético Paranaense, Palmeiras and Ponte Preta.

Although they have big names in offense, they have not been playing at the expected level, so the team hasn’t scored that many goals. The supporters are unhappy, since traditionally São Paulo has always had offensive teams.

Probable Line-up: Rogério Ceni; Auro, Rafael Toloi, Lucão and Carlinhos; Hudson, Wesley, Paulo Henrique Ganso and Michel Bastos; Alexandre Pato and Luis Fabiano

Confirmed Lineup: Rogério Ceni, Reinaldo, Rodrigo Caio, Rafael Tolói, Lucão, Thiago Mendes, Wesley, Michel Bastos, Ganso, Alexandre Pato, R. Centurión.
Coach: Doriva.

Betting suggestion:

Both teams have offensive problems. Moreover, São Paulo is the away team, so their chances of scoring are slimmer. Vasco has the home advantage, but they lack creativity in the midfield and their offense is unproductive. Therefore, we expect a match with few goal chances and a final score close to 0-0.
