Preview:
This Wednesday, Santos and Maringá face at Vila Belmiro, in Santos, in a 2nd leg match for the second round of the 2015 Brazil Cup. On one side we have Santos, an A Series team, and on the other Maringá, a D Series team. In the previous round, Santos eliminated Londrina, winning both matches with a 1-0 score. Maringá eliminated Madureira-RJ, with a 2-0 win in Paraná and a 3-1 loss at RJ. In the 1st leg match, 2-2 in Paraná.

Analysis of Santos

After a bad previous season, Santos have promoted young players to the main team, since they face serious financial problems and cannot new players. This strategy appears to have worked, since they have achieved good results so far. They have lost the Paulista Championship in 2014 in penalties, ending the competition in the second place. But this season things are better for Santos.

They have had a good run in the Paulistão. After leading their group and eliminating XV de Piracicaba and São Paulo, they won the title by beating Palmeiras in penalties. In the Paulistão, Robinho and Ricardo Oliveira have done well, but their main strength is their collective force, which is limited in options but presents good quality.

Last weekend Santos started the Brazilian Championship in an away match against Avaí. In an even match, with each team dominating one of the halves, Santos opened the score but then allowed Avaí to recover and get the equalizer. Now, hopping to arrive at this match in full strength, they hope to get a good result to move forward in the competition.

Confirmed Lineup: Vladimir, Cicinho, Victor Ferraz, David Braz, Werley, Leandrinho, Lucas Lima, E. Valencia, Geuvânio, Ricardo Oliveira, Robinho.
Coach: Dorival Júnior.

Analysis of Maringá

Maringá struggled to stop Santos in the first leg match. They were 2 goals behinds, in serious risk of being immediately eliminated, but somehow managed to score. The substitutions in both teams seem to have affected the match and Maringá improved their game, so Fabiano scored a beautiful goal at 83’ and avoided immediate elimination. But things were to improve further more, and Rodrigo Dantas scored the equalizer in the last seconds of the match.

In the Paranaense Championship, the team had an interesting campaign, but not as good as last season’s, in which they were finalists. After a slow start, the team improved and got a good series of positive results which enabled them to qualify. But in the first knockout round they faced Londrina. After 2-1 wins for both teams, the round was decided through penalties and they were eliminated.

Confirmed Lineup: Ednaldo, Edinho, Gerônimo, Rhuan, Ítalo, Fabiano, Marcelo Xavier, Max, Eurico, Gabriel Barcos, Rodrigo Dantas.
Coach: Claudinho.

Betting suggestion:

Totaly focused in this competition, playing at home and technically superior to their opponents, we believe Santos are clear favourites.
