Analysis of Grêmio

Most people wouldn’t have imagined Grêmio could be so strong at this point. But after the arrival of coach Roger, who has taken the place of Luis Felipe Scolari, the team has improved dramatically and has been playing much better, scoring many goals and presenting a good quality football, both in home and away matches.

In this match, Grêmio will play with its usual starting 11 – at least so it seems from statements of both the coach and the players. They are much stronger collectively now, particularly in home matches. They value this competition, despite their good moment in the Brazilian championship, so they won’t take any chances, since a win will qualify them for the Libertadores. Moreover, this is an important title for a team of the dimension of Grêmio.

Luan and Pedro Rocha have been confirmed in the starting 11.

Confirmed Lineup: Marcelo Grohe, F. Erazo, Rafael Galhardo, Marcelo Hermes, Pedro Geromel, Douglas, Maicon, Giuliano, Walace, Pedro Rocha, Luan.
Coach: Roger Machado.

Analysis of Criciúma

Tigre plays in the B Series, but have had irregular results so far. However, since coach Petkovic arrived to the club they have won important points in away matches, apart from interesting exhibitions in home matches.

B Series teams, nevertheless, are technically very inferior to A Series teams, and Grêmio is one of the best of the main division. Therefore, there is a big quality difference between these two teams, so if Grêmio presents its usual quality it will be impossible for Criciúma to resist.

Confirmed Lineup: Luiz Silva, Adalberto, Guilherme Santos, Maicon, Wanderson, Rodrigo, Marcão, Wellington Reis, Juba, Lucca, Paulo Sérgio.
Coach: Roberto Cavalo.

Betting suggestion:

Grêmio is clearly the favourite in this match, to the point that one could say this is a match between David and Goliath. Grêmio isn’t the best team in the world, but they are clearly one of the best Brazilian teams of the moment, so they are likely to win.

Our suggestion is based on the technical quality of the home team, which should put Criciúma under a lot of pressure, in search of a goal that may allow them to face the 2nd leg with a comfortable advantage. On the other hand, there is some rivalry between these teams, so Grêmio will surely want to win.
