This Wednesday, Goiás faces Ituano at the Serra Dourada Stadium, Goiás, in a 2nd leg match for the third round of the Brazil Cup. Goiás faces their strongest opponent so far, after eliminating Santo André and Independente-PA in the previous rounds. Ituano had a hard round against Joinville in the first round and in the second eliminated Portuguesa.

Analysis of Goiás

Goiás has had a great state championship in the beginning of this season, winning the title with only one loss and the most goals scored in the competition. But despite that the club decided to change coach, so they said goodbye to Wagner Lopes and hired Hélio dos Anjos. With the arrival of the new coach, new players have reinforced the squad as well, but not all of them are available, since some have played for other teams in this competition and cannot play for Goiás according to the event rules.

The new coach has brought new live to the team and they are doing well in the Brazilian Championship. They are 2nd in the league with the same points as leader Sport. In the last weekend they had their best exhibition so far. They were defensively very solid and manage to take advantage of a counterattack to win 1-0 over Palmeiras. They now need to concentrate in this event to get to the next round. But in case they are eliminated they will guarantee qualification for the South American Cup, so many believe they are unlikely to work too hard to come back from the 1st leg negative result.

Confirmed Lineup: Renan, Alex Alves, Fred, Mario, Felipe Menezes, Bruno Henrique, Rodrigo, Everton, Pericles, Erik, Wesley.
Coach: Danny Sérgio.

Analysis of Ituano

In 2015, the team has not had the same results as last year, when they won the state title and played the D series. In this year’s edition of the state championship, they had good exhibitions but tied too many times, so they had a few problems by the end of the stage. Although they had good chances to qualify, they tied 4 of the last 5 matches and were eliminated. Now they are totaly concentrated in the Brazil Cup, so they wish to hold on to the 1st leg advantage.

In the 1st leg match, Ituano dominated Goiás and took advantage of that to get a 2 goal lead. They dominated the first half but had few goal chances. But they were even better in the second and scored the first goal through a penalty kick. Near the end they scored another goal and now have an interesting advantage. The team’s only loss by more than 2 goals this season was in their first match, in a 3-0 loss against Santos, so they wish to at least avoid losing for more than 2 goals and qualify.

Confirmed Lineup: Fábio, Naylhor, Peri, Dick, Léo, Guilherme, Jonatan Lima, Ewerton, Claudinho, Clayson, Ronaldo.
Coach: Tarcísio Pugliese.

Betting suggestion:

Goiás is probably more interested in the South American Cup and is not totally focused on this match. So we searched for a bet that was in accordance with this analysis of their state of mind and suggest the Asian Handicap +0.5 in favour of Ituano as a good value bet.
