Analysis: Sevilla vs Las Palmas (14 February 2016)

Sevilla and Las Palmas face at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, in a match for the 24th round of the Primera División. In the last league head‑to‑head, played in 23‑09‑2015, Las Palmas got a home win by (2‑0). Curiously, the head‑to‑head history favours Las Palmas, since in the last 1 match they register 1 win. In this match the home advantage may play an important role, as both teams present significant differences between home and away performances.

      Analysis of Sevilla

The home team is currently in the 5th position of the league, with 37 points won, after 10 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses. In the penultimate match, they won in a home match against Levante, by (3‑1). In the last match, they tied in an away match against Celta de Vigo, by (1‑1). This is a team that usually makes good use of the home advantage, stronger with the help of its supporters, since in the last 30 matches they register 3 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses in away matches, with 18 goals scored and 19 conceded; against 14 wins and 1 loss at their stadium, with 36 goals scored and 8 conceded. In their last match, for the Copa del Rey, they got an away tie against Celta de Vigo by (2‑2).

They have won the last 10 home matches for this competition. Their offense has scored consistently, as they have scored goals in 8 of the last 10 matches for this competition. There is a tendency for goals in their home matches, since 8 of the last 12 for this competition have ended with Over 2,5 goals. They have conceded the first goal in 9 of their 23 matches for this competition, and have only turned the score around in 1.

Sevilla comes for this match after an important draw against Celta Vigo away home. In the match in question, the team lost a player after just 25 minutes of match when the defense Federico Fazio took the second yellow card and was sent off. Even with a man less on the pitch, Sevilla opened the scoreboard with the centre forward Daniel Carriço in the end of the first and, finished the match in advantage. In the second half the team couldn’t handle the pressure and took the draw after 19 minutes. The opponent kept pressing, but Sevilla managed to hold the draw and to back home with one point. Sevilla was weaker than the opponent, giving only two shots on goal against 6 of Celta Vigo and, still had only 31% of ball possession, largely due to the loss of a player early. For the match on Sunday, the coach Unai Emery won’t count on the defense Fazio, suspended and, Mark Anderolli who is recovering from injury.

      Analysis of Las Palmas

The away team is currently in the 18th position of the league, with 21 points won, after 5 wins, 6 draws and 12 losses. In the penultimate match, they won in a home match against Celta de Vigo, by (2‑1). In the last match, they lost in an away match against Rayo Vallecano, by (2‑0). This is a team that usually makes good use of the home advantage, stronger with the help of its supporters, since in the last 30 matches they register 1 win, 5 draws and 9 losses in away matches, with 16 goals scored and 30 conceded; against 7 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses at their stadium, with 17 goals scored and 15 conceded. In the last 10 away league matches Las Palmas has a record of 3 draws and 7 losses, so they have won 3 points out of 30 possible.

In this competition, they haven’t won any of the last 11 away matches. In their away league matches the most frequent result at half‑time was the 1‑0 (6 out of 11 matches). Defensive consistency hasn’t been their best feature, as they have conceded goals in 9 of the last 10 matches, but their offense has scored consistently, as they have scored goals in 7 of the last 10 matches for this competition. This is a team that has had a hard time trying to score first. They have opened up the score in only 5 of the last 23 matches for the Primera División, they have reached half‑time in front in 3 of those 5 matches and have held on to the lead in 4. In 23 matches for this competition, they have conceded the first goal 16 times and have only turned the score around in 1. In the last 11 away matches for this competition there is 1 period that stands out: they have scored 4 of their 11 goals between minutes (61'‑75').

Las Palmas comes unmotivated for this match after being defeated away against Rayo Vallecano, rival in the fight to escape the last positions, by 2-0. The team entered inattentive and suffered the first goal after just three minutes of the match. In the second half, they suffered another goal, this one after 29 minutes and, they hadn’t strength to get the result. Las Palmas hit the goal in just four opportunities against 9 of the opponent and, was slightly lower in terms of ball possession with 49% of the time in control of the ball. The major problem occurred on the midfield that little could create for the forward Nicolas Fedor. For the match on Sunday, the coach Quique Setién won’t count on the left lateral Dani Castellano, suspended by 3 yellow cards accumulated.

      Betting suggestion:

Sevilla lost just one of the last 10 matches played for the Spanish Championship and also comes in a series of five matches unbeaten. Playing at home the performance is excellent, and they won the last 10 matches they played in their stadium. Las Palmas, on the other hand, won only one match away home in this competition and has lost the last two away matches. Taking into account the skilled squad and the great performance that Sevilla presents in their stadium, we believe that the team will comes out with the victory without any problems.

        Sevilla – Las Palmas

Sevilla will host one of outsiders Las Palmas in 24th game week of Spanish Primera division. Antalusia team failed in the beginning of the season but then become to play better.
Sevilla must gain 8 points to be on the 4th place in the league and these are quite possible to acvieve. Las Palmas takes much less attractive 18th place but the team hope to stay in Primera at the end of season. The bottom of the league table is very close and only one win let take higher place. Consequently, Las Palmas will play at full strength in every match to gain more points.
Antalusians are dominant at home because they won 12 matches in a row on own field including games against Real Madrid and Juventus. Las Palmas isn’t such successful team as Sevilla and Antalusians shouldn’t face with big problems in upcoming match. If characterize Sevilla’s style of play should be admited that attacking football of the team is really powerful: Sevilla prefers to attack on wings and creates lots of chances. Players make many shots and make crosses into penalty area. Headers are strong pros of Antalusians. Considering presence in the Sevilla’s squad really good player like Konoplyanka is expected that Las Palmas’s defenders may be passed quite often. Consequently, serves on wings are very dangerous.

Las Palmas try to play positioning football controlling the ball on own part of the pitch. Short serves and distant shots are part of Las Palmas playing style. For team is too hard to oppose teams what play actively on wings and in which squads are individually strong players, more powerful than Las Palmas’s defenders.

Let’s look at upcoming match according to bets on corners. I offer to look at bet on total over corners in this game. Total over 9,5 is for 1,73 odds at Bet365.

Players on avarage take 11,58 corner in Sevilla’s home matches. It is the best result among all teams of Primera. Hosts take on average 6,83 corners, almost 7. Total over 9,5 corners was covered in 11 of 12 home games of Antalusians. Las Palmas takes 4,82 corners, almost 5 during the game at away. Players of Las Palmas took 4 or more corners in last 6 games.  Las Palmas played against Rayo, Levante, Atletico, Espanyol. Sporting and Valencia. These football clubs (exept Espanyol) let their opponents take as much corners during the game as Sevilla. Besides, Las Palmas’s total corners was over 9,5 4 times of last 5 games at away.

To sum up, we can see that the match for both sides is difficult: Sevilla will try to approach to Champions League, Las Palmas will try to take higher place of the league table. The game is going to be with many chances because both teams need points. And if consider teams’ corners stats, bet on total over 9,5 corners for 1,73 odds at Bet363 is very attractive.
