Analysis: Sevilla vs Celta de Vigo (04 February 2016)

Sevilla and Celta de Vigo face in a 1st leg match for the Copa del rey semi-final. The home team has the advantage in the head to head record for this competition, since they register 4 wins and 3 losses in the last 7 matches. Oddly enough, these teams have never tied in this last 7 matches.

      Analysis of Sevilla

Sevilla comes to this 1st leg match after having eliminated Logroñés, with wins by 3-0 and 2-0, Betis, by 2-0 and 4-0, and Mirandés, with wins by 2-0 and 3-0.

Apart from having won all of their cup matches and not having conceded any goals, they are currently in the 5th position of La Liga, with 36 points won and 3 wins and 1 draw in the last 4 rounds. they have beaten Athletic Bilbao, Málaga, and Levante and tied against Atlético de Madrid.

Sevilla has been very efficient in the last matches, organized in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with 3 players in support of the excellent striker Gameiro. But cocah Unai Emery will not be able to count on a few important players: Beto, Kakuta and Marco Andreolli are injured and Vicente Borra has been suspended.

      Analysis of Celta Vigo

Celta de Vigo comes to this 1st leg semi-final match after having eliminated Almería, with wins by 1-0 and 3-0, Cádiz, by 3-0 and 2-0, and Atlético de Madrid, after a goalless draw at home and a 2-3 away win , with an excellent exhibition by Pablo Hernández, who has scored 2 goals in that match.

In La Liga, Celta is currently in the 7th position, with 34 points won, but they aren’t as strong as they were in the beginning of the season. In the last 6 matches they register 5 losses and only one win. They were beaten by Athletic Bilbao, Málaga, Atlético de Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and Las Palmas and only won against Levante.

Celta is clearly not in the best form moment, but they have proven in the match against Atlético de Madrid in the previous round that they are a dangerous team, with enough quality to reach the final. Coach Eduardo Berizzo will not be able to count on Nolito, Marcelo Díaz and Andreu Fontas, who are recovering from injuries.

      Betting suggestion:

Sevilla comes to this 1st leg semi-final match for Copa del Rey as favourites to win, since they have the home advantage and are in a great form moment in both the cup and the league. On the other hand, although Celta isn’t going through a good moment in the league, they have shown quality in the previous round, against Atlético Madrid. However, they register 5 losses and only 1 win in the last 6 league rounds, so they are unlikely to beat Sevilla.
