Analysis: St. Mirren vs Kilmarnock (29 December 2019)

      Analysis of St. Mirren

St.  Mirren has not been able to make a good campaign in this season's Premiership and comes to matchday 21 very close to the bottom of the standings with just four points over Hearts, the bottom team in the competition. The distance to the first half of the leaderboard is already seven points, something that did not change after the Boxing Day round, where Jim Goodwin's team finally got rid of the rout in a reception to Celtic that ended up with a "nice" 2-1 defeat. This is because the superiority of the champion against St. Mirren was obvious, both goals were scored in the first 32 minutes of the game, but Celtic's late submission would save St. Mirren of a worse result. Very close to the end, Cameron MacPherson scored a goal of honor in a free kick that struck the wall.

      Analysis of Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock have been running a medium campaign, which allows them to reach this 21st round of the championship in 6th place on the leaderboard, the first to virtually qualify for the champion's qualifying round, but with just one point of advantage compared to Livingston, the first team in the second half. Last Thursday, Alexander Dyer's team lost by 1-0 on a visit to the candidate Rangers' field, in a game that even got rid of a heavier defeat by the high volume of offensive play that Gerrard's team managed to produce. The run of matches without winning thus increased to six in a row, with four defeats in the last four league games.

      Betting suggestion:

Playing at home for the second time in a row, St. Mirren will have a good opportunity here to shorten distances to the top six Premiership qualifiers and have to win. To do so, the team will have to reverse the current bad times they are facing, against a Kilmarnock that has not seen good results in recent weeks, but overall has slightly more cohesive football compared to their opponent. Thus, a game is foreseen where both teams will fight hard for the return to good results, with better chances of success for the visitors.
